How To Maintain Healthy Skin During Christmas
The festive season is here along with an abundance of social events, decadent feasts and boozy nights. Dry skin, breakouts and a dull complexion are all signs of “hungover” skin, but that doesn’t mean you can’t over-indulge! Here are some very useful tips to avoid damaging your skin during Christmas and protecting all the hard work you have placed into your skin care regimen throughout the year.
Even if you’re not a heavy drinker, we tend to increase by a glass or two during this time of year. Alcohol is a diuretic, meaning your body is losing a lot of its liquid also making your skin very dry and dull. Try alternating your alcoholic beverages with glasses of water to combat dehydration.
No matter how tired you may be after a fun filled night with your loved ones, always remember to remove your make up before bed. If you’re tempted to jump straight into bed, clogged pores, oily skin and breakouts are just a few of the nightmares you may face in the morning.
Christmas is one of the few times a year where you can get away with overeating! But before you get carried away with ham, pork crackle and stuffing don’t forget about the skin-friendly sides that are just as satisfying! Opt for delicious roast carrots & veggies, nuts, berries, tomatoes and leafy greens. My favourite festive side has to be a leafy rocket, pear & pine nut salad, it makes me feel a little better about the pavlova I’m about to devour!
Despite your best efforts during Christmas, you may still need a little assistance from a professional facial to get your skin glowing again for New Years. I recommend our Age Defying Facial to cleanse, exfoliate and rejuvenate your skin back to good health. This facial infuses your skin with Medik8 core active ingredients: vitamin C to protect and regenerate and vitamin A to stimulate and correct.
Most importantly, make sure to take the time to enjoy the holiday season with your friends and family. It has been a wonderful year spent with all our clients and on behalf of the La Peau Team we wish you all a very joyful and happy Christmas & New Year.
