IPL Photo rejuvenation is a non-invasive treatment performed with medical-grade Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology. It has been developed to treat undesirable skin perfections on the face and body like age spots, sun damage, open pores, lines and wrinkles, scars and stretch marks.
We all know that the Australian sun can have a major effect on our skin. In fact, it is estimated that 90% of skin ageing is due to sun exposure. When we expose our skin to the sun for prolonged periods of time, UV rays penetrate our inner layers and cause damage and death to our cells. The UV rays also break down the collagen in our skin, making it weaker and more susceptible to wrinkling and sagging.
So, if too much time in the sun has left your face with blotches, spots, damage or lines then IPL photo rejuvenation may help your skin appear younger and healthier. Photo rejuvenation will penetrate and draw out the discoloured cells that have formed in your dermis and dissolve them using IPL. The skin will then begin to generate a significant amount of new collagen, replacing what has been destroyed by the sun. As a result, your skin will become stronger and more supple, and will help with those signs of wrinkling and sagging.
Anywhere from two to 6 treatments of photo rejuvenation can be recommended and you will begin to see improvements just a week out of each treatment. The maximum results will be noticeable three to five months out, if you continue to complete a series of treatments one month apart. Please note, as IPL is attracted to dark pigment, it is not suitable for tanned or dark complexions.
At La Peau, our laser therapist is fully accredited and certified with the Australian Institute of Laser Therapy (AILT) and will talk you through all the technical aspects involved with the IPL photo rejuvenation treatment. They will also perform a comprehensive skin analysis and patch test to determine your skin’s requirements and what your best course of treatment will be.
We are proud to use only the Palomar Starlux and Multilux IPL systems. These systems use energy more efficiently than any other laser or light-based devices currently on the market.
