New Year New Skin Plan: Top 5 Skin Resolutions to start looking after your skin in 2021

January marks that time of year where we can all reflect, reset and appreciate how resilient we have all been coming off the back of 2020, and what a year it has been right?  So much has happened this year: The bushfires, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the royal family and of course the COVID-19 pandemic… we all feel the stress of what is happening in the world around us and your skin does too.

If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that we should not take anything for granted. That includes selfcare, feeling happy and confident in ourselves, as well as the skin we are in. Did you know, a solid skincare regime partnered with a healthy lifestyle is the most effective way to slow down the signs of ageing? Let 2021 be your year by following simple and effective skincare solutions that will leave you looking and feeling renewed all year around.

Not sure what resolution works for you? Here’s a few of our favourites:

  1. Be sure to moisturise both morning and night!

Let’s be honest, we all know moisturised skin is happy skin and happy skin means glowing skin. When you moisturise in the morning you are pumping that hydration back in which will leave a flawless base when you apply your foundation. In the evening, you should apply moisturiser to restore the moisture your skin has lost during the day. Repeat daily.

  1. Wear sunscreen every single day!

Exposure to the sun is vital to your overall wellbeing. Soaking up those rays can ward off depression, strengthen your bones, and even help regulate your blood pressure however you must wear sunscreen, even on a cloudy day! Don’t just apply to your face, all areas of exposed skin, including the forearms and the backs of your hands, need to be covered as well.

  1. Exfoliate, it’s important!

You can spend hundreds of dollars on masks and moisturisers, but what good are they if these products can’t effectively absorb? Buff away dead skin cells to reveal fresh, radiant skin. In short, a regular exfoliating routine will leave your skin looking fresh and healthy

  1. Be sure to use skin healthy make-up

When you are working hard to look after your skin and keep a glowing, balanced complexion, you don’t want to be clogging up your pores with heavy make-up. We always recommend using a mineral makeup like Jane Iredale, that is talc-free and non-comedogenic, so it won’t irritate the skin.

  1. See a skincare specialist.

Looking after your skin at home is essential, but so is a regular trip to your local aesthetician. Don’t hide away from your skin concerns, as this can be detrimental in the long term. With a simple consultation, your aesthetician can determine the right treatments, products and skin plan for you.
