Sometimes you just want to indulge in a big, juicy burger! It’s filling, it’s delicious and most importantly it’s satisfying. With an easy substitution, you can still enjoy your Friday night burgers! Well, what is it? It’s ground turkey!

 

Lean protein, such as ground turkey provides skin with the building blocks for elastin and collagen. These fibres are what assist your skin in looking firm and wrinkle free. Not only that, but ground turkey contains levels of zinc that assist in treating inflammatory acne.

 

So next time your cooking up an indulgent burger try this easy Turkey Burger recipe with Mango & Avocado Salsa!

 

Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 450g turkey mince
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper, ground
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ medium onion
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup whole wheat bread crumbs
  • 1 medium mango, peeled and diced
  • 1 medium red capsicum, diced
  • 1 medium avocado, diced
  • 1 tbsp white sugar, granulated
  • 2 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Hamburger buns

 

Method

 

  1. Place turkey mince in a large mixing bowl. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion, egg and bread crumbs and mix thoroughly.
  2. Form the turkey mixture into 4 patties.
  3. Cook patties over medium heat in a lightly oiled frying pan or lightly oiled grill.
  4. Cook for 5-10 minutes per side or until cooked through.
  5. As the patties cook, prepare the salsa by combining the mango, pepper, avocado, sugar, vinegar, oil and salt in a medium bowl. Toss to combine.
  6. Place patties on bun and top with salsa and serve.
