6 Tips to Keep Your Skin Hydrated This Winter

As we quickly approach the cooler months, unfortunately our skin can take the brunt of it. The combination of low humidity in the air as well as heaters and long hot showers can lead to moisture loss on the surface of the skin, leading to unavoidable dryness and dehydration.

Here are some tips to keep your skin looking and feeling supple and youthful all throughout winter!

1.Your skin care routine

Having a strict skin care regimen that you stick to day and night can make a big difference to your skin. As your skin’s surface becomes dehydrated during winter, your skin may benefit more from products that keep your skin nourished and hydrated. Leaving your skin with a smooth and supple texture.

A moisturiser that we recommend during the day is, Medik8’s Advanced Day Total Protect Moisturiser. This moisturiser fights against premature ageing, whilst hydrating the skin. It’s completely translucent finish leaves your skin feeling soft, supple and hydrated. Perfect for everyday wear. Synchro moisturising cream from GERnétic is great to apply to your skin at night as its regenerating and nutritive formula balances skin’s oiliness as well as dryness.

You can shop our Medik8 and GERnétic products via our online shop.

2.SPF is essential… even during winter

SPF is essential all year round, even when the sun doesn’t shine! We can’t preach this enough, but sunscreen will do wonders if worn all the time. For healthy and youthful looking skin, it’s essential that you apply SPF every morning. Whilst UV rays are not that strong and less able to burn your skin, it will still age it. Don’t forget to apply to the neck and décolletage.

3.Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid is the best skin care product that you can apply to your face when it needs hydration. It can hold 1000 times its weight in water, making this ingredient an absolute must!

4.Herbal teas

During summer we’re constantly thirsty when it’s hot, but during winter we tend to turn towards sugary drinks like hot chocolates, chai tea, coffee etc. Instead, replace your usual morning coffee with herbal teas or fresh lemon water to detoxify.

5.Avoid Hot showers

It’s very tempting to have a hot shower during winter but unfortunately this can dehydrate our skin. Some other tips to keep your skin glowing and hydrated is to exfoliate your face and body at least once a week to get rid of the dead surface layer of the skin. Making sure you apply a good thick lather of quality moisturiser afterwards will leave your skin feeling so supple.

6.Indulge in a Facial

At La Peau Skin Rejuvenation, we have a variety of facial treatments that can target your dry areas, breakouts or if you just want to indulge and relax then we can provide you with outstanding results.
Treat yourself to a facial this winter… Our facials are designed to diminish imperfections by gently exfoliating & cleansing the outer layer of the skin and rejuvenating the surface. Receiving regular facials will assist in removing dead skin cells, which in turn promotes new skin cell growth.
