Eat your way to radiant skin!

Ever wondered what the secret is to glowing and radiant skin? It can be hard to find the right skincare products, diet and treatments that work for you, and it can be a lot of trial and error. Lacking certain nutrients in our diet and eating high sugar and salt foods cause our digestive system to stop working properly and ultimately our skin pays the price. Clean eating and having the right nutrients, nourishes our body and skin from the inside out making it appear more radiant, glowing, and healthy.

Here are some secrets to maintaining that glow while also supporting your gut and liver health:

Eating in moderation

Moderation does not mean eliminating the food that you love but instead eating them selectively. For example, if you love bacon, you can savour some bacon for breakfast once a week if you also balance it with a healthy lunch and dinner. Eating in moderation is all about balance! Consider smaller portions, eat with others when possible and change your snack foods.

Always include fruits and veggies!

Be sure to keep up the plant-based foods with your regular meals. The more diverse the plant foods, the more you will be able to help keep your gut, skin, and body healthy. Aim to eat at least 30 different plant foods a week including fruits, vegetables, wholegrains, legumes, nuts, and seeds. Remember to include a variety of different colours.

Blueberries: Blueberries are full of potassium, folate, vitamin C, B6 and phenols, flavonoids, and anthocyanins! We recommend keeping blueberries in the fridge for a handy snack or to add to breakfast oats or smoothies.

Grapes: Grape seeds act as free radical scavengers to protect and fight free radical damage. They are the powerhouse of nutrients that promote cell support, wound healing, and offer anti-inflammatory benefits too!

Green vegetables: Green leafy vegetables are rich in fibre, antioxidants, and polyphenols. They are one of nature’s powerhouses with benefits that include supporting a healthy liver and gut and balancing hormones

Keep a routine going

If you had an event or celebration over the weekend, it is important to get right back on track the next day to stay consistent. If you usually exercise, meditate or do any sort of physical activity, aim to stick to your regular routine. When on holidays it can be easy to fall off your routine such as skipping meals or exercise. The most important thing to remember is to relax and not be obsessive about what you are eating or drinking.
